University Optics

University has been in business for some forty years, cheifly producing astronomical accessories and eyepieces. Along the way however, they have marketed a few telescopes as well.

In 1986 they introduced a 80mm f/6.25 ED telescope. This was basically the same telscope also marketed by Vernonscope. It was triplet apochromatic optical tube with a 2" focuser, diagonal and eyepiece with a photo tripod adapter.
In 1987 a 75mm f/6.6 telescope was introduced that contained an adjustable lens cell with an achromatic, air-spaced objective having a 500mm focal length. The optical tube was supplied with a large 2" focuser, 1 ¼" adapter and 6x30 finder. The next year the objective size was increased to 80mm f/6.6, put in a simpler cell and supplied as a "you-build" kit without the finder and with a lower cost.
An 80mm f/4 rich field telescope was more of a good finder but was marketed for both. The optical tube came with a 1 ¼" focuser, Amici diagonal for correctly oriented images, eyepiece and a tripod mounting block.
