Mag 1 Instruments

Mag 1 produced only reflectors, and high quality ones at that. These telescopes receive rave reviews from their users for their high quality optics and ease of use.

Portaball was the name given to this unique truss-tube Dobsonian telescope. It could be viewed as a mega Astroscan with a spun aluminum ball replacing the standard alt-az arrangement. It had a superb 12½" f/4.8 optical system with either a 1 ¼" or 2" focuser and Telrad finder. In 1997 both a 10" f/5 and 8" f/6 model were added and in more recent years the ball material was changed to smooth fiberglass.
