Bausch and Lomb

When Bausch & Lomb took over Criterion's line of telescopes, they inherited the long-standing reputation of the Criterion RV series. Rather than continue that line, as they had with the SCT, they released a completely new reflector under the RV designation.

RV 5+
In 1987 RV-5+ was released. This was a nice 5.1" f/5.5 optical tube on a sturdy tripod mounted GEM with illuminated polar finder. The telescope was supplied with a 1¼" focuser and accessories. A quartz drive was available as an option.
At about the same time a standard 4.5" f/8 reflector with a 5x24 finder and .965" accessories became part of the line. This was supplied on a moderate tripod mounted GEM.
